Trends in Visitor Arrivals
Guyana visitor arrivals are modest by global standards. Statistics from
the Guyana Tourism Authority reveal that tourist arrivals increased
steadily from 74,881 in 1992 to 107,127 in 1993, representing an increase
of 43.1 per cent. There was a further 5.3 per cent increase in arrivals
between 1993 and 1994. However, visitor arrivals fluctuated between
1995 and 1999. By 1999, arrivals had declined to 57,467. However, in
2000, arrivals almost doubled to 105,040 and in 2004, visitor arrivals
showed a further increase to 121,989.
